Applicants for IDRC-SEARCA scholarships for AY 2012-2013 interviewed

LOS BAÑOS, Laguna – Thirty scholarship applicants from Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Vietnam were interviewed via Skype* by the SEARCA scholarship interview panel on 28-30 August 2012. The interviews aimed to screen the pool of applicants for the 1st batch of scholars to be awarded scholarships for the November 2012 (2nd semester) and Summer 2013 intake.

The interview panel was composed of Dr. Editha C. Cedicol, Program Head of the Graduate Scholarship Department; Dr. Bessie M. Burgos, Program Head of the Project Development and Management Department and officer-in-charge of the Research and Development Department; Ms. Zacyl R. Jalotjot and Ms. Jesselle S. Laranas, both Program Specialists of the Graduate Scholarship Department. The committee also had the privilege of having technical advice and comments from Dr. Percy E. Sajise, former director of SEARCA, ecologist, scientist, and advocate of sustainable agriculture in the uplands, who reviewed the applicants’ research proposals with regard to the technical soundness and alignment to the thrusts of IDRC and SEARCA. Mr. Rainier Josef A. Austria, Project cum Administrative Assistant, provided technical and administrative support.

The call for applications for the second batch of IDRC-SEARCA scholars for Academic Year 2013-2014 has been sent out. Deadline for submission of applications to SEARCA is on 30 October 2012.
