Scholarships for Upland Agriculture and Food Security

List of Documents to Submit

All documents must be in English or must have certified English translations. No need to send the original copies (except for the Scholarship Application Form and Notice of Admission from desired university), just send certified photocopies. All non-English documents submitted will not be considered as application documents.

  1. Completed Scholarship Application Form. This form must be prepared in triplicate (three copies).
  2. Notice of Admission from desired study post/university. Applicants must apply for admission directly to their desired study post/university. Please check the university websites for the process.
  3. Official transcript of academic records of the Bachelor’s degree completed.
  4. Certification of employment (if employed). Send only certification of employment from current employer.
  5. Two (2) copies of 2”x2” pictures. A 2 inch by 2 inch photo.
  6. Medical certificate. Certification from a medical doctor that the applicant is in good mental and physical health condition and is fit to undertake graduate studies.
  7. Certification of English proficiency test results. This may either be TOEFL, IELTS, or any certification of English proficiency.
  8. Motivation letter. A one-page write-up on the applicant's motivation to pursue master’s degree focused on food security and uplands agriculture.
  9. Study plan. A study plan that specifies the major and minor fields and courses to be taken, good for two (2) years.
    (please check the university websites for the list of courses under the desired program)
  10. Proposed Thesis Research Outline. Brief description of the research the applicant plans to conduct for thesis/dissertation. It must have the basic parts:
    • Title of proposed research project
    • Statement of the problem
    • Importance of the study
    • Objectives of the study
    • Venue or location of study
    • Proposed research methodology

      IMPORTANT! The research must have a strong focus and must address an issue related to food security and agricultural development in the upland areas in the applicant’s country.

       
  11. Recommendation letter. A recommendation letter from the head of employment institution, or head of university where the applicant finished his/her bachelor’s degree.
    Note: The UPLB Recommendation Form must be sent by the one who recommended the applicant.
