LOS BAÑOS, LAGUNA - Eight scholars who belong to the first batch of awardees under The Southeast Asian Upland Agriculture Fellowships successfully completed their study programs as of the end of First Semester of Academic Year 2014-2015. They will form part of the SEARCA Alumni, Associates and Fellows (SAAF), a valuable network of participants and beneficiaries of SEARCA’s capacity-building programs.

The project, targeted to nationals of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Vietnam, has awarded a total of 49 scholarships since its launch in March 2012 and is aimed at strengthening and harnessing a critical mass of researchers to promote agricultural development and address food insecurity in their respective upland communities. Majority of the awardees came from academic institutions in their home countries, most of whom were lecturers and instructors.
