LOS BAÑOS, LAGUNA - International Development Research Centre (IDRC) of Canada and the Southeast Asian Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) recently awarded 6 graduate scholarships to nationals of Lao PDR (2) and Myanmar (4). The new awardees belong to the second batch of the second cohort, which now totals to 16 scholars.
All of the awardees are studying at the University of the Philippines Los Baños starting Second Semester of Academic Year (AY) 2014-2015. Four more slots are expected to be filled-up by the start of First Semester AY 2015-2016. The scholarship is part of The Southeast Asian Upland Agriculture Fellowships, a capacity building project of the IDRC and SEARCA which aims to address food security and agricultural development issues in the uplands of Southeast Asia.
